JUNE 2025
The Area are very sad to hear that Ann Overton-Ablitt had passed away at home after a short illness. Ann was a member and a great supporter of the Area for many years with sponsorship, judging and attending social occasions with her husband Alan; she will be sadly missed.
Over many years Ann bred some beautiful Welsh ponies at her Colne Stud in Essex with great success at a high level.
Our thoughts go out at this very sad time to her husband Alan and her family.

TRIBUTE TO MARY GREENWOOD
1930-2025

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you all that our dear friend, Mary Greenwood, has passed away aged 95 years.
Mary was a great supporter of the showing world and in particular, BSPS Area 15. She was a very hard working committee member for too many years to mention.
When Mary first became Secretary of our main show there were only classes for show ponies and working hunter ponies but over the years she encompassed all the new classes, rules etc., when they came and was our longest serving show secretary and in recognition of this was honoured with a BSPS long service award. The teas at our shows were legendary due to Mary’s delicious cakes.
Mary’s other great love was hunting and in her later years you could always find her following the hunt in her Land Rover, whatever the weather, and always organising a raffle for the hunt.
There is so much that could be said about Mary’s contribution, enthusiasm and dedication to the equestrian world. This was Area 15’s gain.
Mary had two children and four grandchildren.
The funeral will take place on Monday, 17th March at 10.30 am
At Maldon Fields Crematorium
